Stick Weaving Workshop
Master the ancient technique of stick weaving to create a beautiful coiled mat
Service Description
Join Anna for this relaxed, beginner-friendly workshop at the studio. Using just two sticks, you'll learn to weave a beautiful mat that you'll take home at the end of the workshop - with the skills to continue weaving whenever you want to! Crafting is good for the soul, and there's nothing quite like an evening creating, chatting and building something with your own hands as the nights draw in. Stick weaving is a portable form of hand-weaving that uses handheld sticks or pegs instead of a frame or fixed loom. It is a simple and satisfying craft whose origins date back thousands of years. All materials are provided. You will take away your own pair of weaving sticks at the end of the workshop and a helpful guide to stick weaving so you can continue your projects at home. Come and join us, enjoy a hot drink and some uninterrupted time crafting. About your host: Anna is a Leeds based jeweller and maker (her jeweller is absolutely beautiful!) and works in the heritage sector. Her love of stick weaving began several years ago and provided the perfect way to use up all the many, many yarn ends she’s accumulated through her long standing love of crochet! Anna is especially interested in the therapeutic benefits of hand-making to enhance mental, physical and emotional well-being. Follow her @stickandweave on Instagram Any questions, please just ask!
